Our History
Packard Machinery Company was founded in 1942 by Wendell Packard Sr. and was the sole New England Distributor for South Bend lathes. A healthy market share was established through an emphasis on service and organization, which continues today.
In 1973, Wendell Packard Jr. joined the company and eventually, upon Wendell Sr.’s retirement, assumed management responsibilities. In an effort to continue to meet the needs of our growing customer base, Wendell Packard Jr. began offering the newest technologies, which included CNC manufacturing solutions. In 1989, Packard Machinery began a very successful association with Kitamura Machinery Co., distributing their vast array of Vertical & Horizontal Machining Centers.
Wendell Packard III became the third generation of Packard’s to join the company in 2004. He has overseen the continued growth of Packard Machinery and today leads the company in offering first class, yet affordable manufacturing process solutions. He has continued his grandfather’s legacy of viewing customer relationships as partnerships. Not just between Packard Machinery and the customer, but also amongst the various machine tool builders that Packard Machinery represents.
